Each year, Chiltern Training sponsor an Advanced Apprentice to work abroad on the GAP programme within the childcare sector. Previous Chiltern students have taken up this offer and travelled to Asia to work with at orphanages in India and Japan. They then enjoyed travelling in those areas after their placements. In February 2010, Christine Lowrie was the Chiltern Apprentice who travelled to Japan to work with disabled children.
If you wish to see another part of the world and would like to do some travelling whilst learning about different cultures and helping others, this is a fantastic opportunity. You will need to have completed your Chiltern Advanced Apprenticeship and apply through the administration team. You will be required to send in a letter of application detailing where you would like to go and what you think you will gain from your experiences. All successful applicants are required to share their experiences with other learners on their return.
