What Does The Qualification Cover?It is a competence-based qualification designed to be assessed in the workplace. This qualification provides learners with the opportunity to build both managerial and practitioner skills. Qualification Gained:Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (England) Who Is The Qualification Suited For?This course is for people working as a manager practitioner, senior practitioner or deputy manager working in early year’s settings. What Are The Entry Requirements?Learners must hold a Level 3 Childcare qualification and be an experienced practitioner. You must also be in a supervisory role within a Childcare setting and learners must currently be working in a child care setting for at least 16 hours per week. This qualification is not approved for those under 19 years of age. How Many Credits Are Required To Complete The Course?To achieve the Level 5 Diploma learners must achieve a minimum of 80 QCF credits from mandatory and optional units. The mandatory units include the following titles: Professional Practice in Children’s Care, Learning and Development Support Children’s Care, Learning and Development in the Early Years, Use and develop systems that promote communication, Promote professional development, Champion equality, diversity and inclusion, Develop health and safety, and risk management, policies procedures and practices, Working in partnership, Understand child and young person development, Lead practice that supports positive outcomes for children’s development, Develop and implement policies and procedures to support safeguarding. How Is The Qualification Assessed?Candidates will undertake Monthly tutorials which will deliver underpinning knowledge and support skills development. You will be taught through an appropriate mix of teaching methods including: seminars, lectures and interactive workshop sessions. You will be offered tutorial support focusing on study skills. The assessor will come to the workplace and observe you as well as assist in portfolio building. How Long Will It Take To Complete?Approximately 12 - 14 months. This can vary depending on the level of support required for each learner and previous experience. The course is distance learning you will attend college once a month. What Qualifications Can You Progress To?This qualification can be used as a stepping stone to a Foundation degree, BA and EYPS.
